What to See at the Railway and Museum

Step back in time and visit our 1915 heritage narrow gauge railway and the magnificent Kempton Steam Museum. Discover the fascinating history of how our railway and the great pumping engines at Kempton Steam Museum helped to provide clean drinking water to London in the early 20th century.

Enjoy the unique experience of steam travel on one of the few narrow-gauge railways within London’s M25, featuring our 1903 built locomotive ‘Darent’ pulling our Devonshire coaches passionately restored by our volunteers. If you want to know more about our rich industrial steam heritage, then Kempton Steam Museum is right next door, housing the world’s largest triple expansion steam engine.

There’s plenty of free parking onsite, with countryside picnic tables and a great children’s play area with a static train. The museum café is also open, giving you the opportunity to have a refreshing beverage as you take in the jaw-dropping sight of 1920’s engineering at its best.

Our friendly railway volunteers also organise exciting railway events throughout the year such as Easter Egg Hunt and Dinosaur Day, not forgetting our very popular Ghost Nights and Santa Specials. Our big events are all bookable online.
