You can book our regular Sunday steam train rides or just turn up on the day, but for some of our exciting railway events you’ll need to book in advance (ticket prices may vary).

You can always sign up for our On the Rails event alerts and not miss out on any of our very popular events.

Season Opens & Weekend of Steam!

Lots to do on our first of the season steam train rides on ‘Darent’ our beautiful 1903 locomotive. Kempton Steam Museum next door to the railway is also open when you’ll have the opportunity to see the world’s largest working steam engines, high as four stacked double-decker buses working and ‘in steam.’ It’s free parking and there’s a lovely picnic field with play train. Drinks and snacks available. Not to be missed. £2.50 children (under 3s free) & £4.50 adults. Book train and museum tickets separately. Visit Kempton Steam Museum for details.

Easter Egg Extravaganza

For a wonderful Easter family day out at affordable prices, come along and meet the Easter Bunny and find the egg cards hidden around the railway and win a free chocolate egg. Steam train rides and play area with the ‘Kempton Flyer play train, where kids can pretend to be a train driver! Free parking and drinks and snacks available. £3 children (under 3s free) & £5 adults.

Weekend of Steam & Sunday Jazz!

Lots to do! Bring your picnic and allow the kids to let off steam!  Enjoy Sunday Jazz with our wonderful youth jazz group. It’s free parking and drinks & snacks are available. Gala Weekend & Model Railways

A great day out for enthusiasts, families and everyone who loves railways and steam! There will be great model railway layouts for you to see as well as trips on ‘Darent’ our 1903 locomotive. There’s also the chance to see our rolling stock of 1960’s diesels. This event promises to be very popular so early booking of an HKWR ticket entry slot is essential. £4 for children (under 3s free) and £8 adults. It’s free parking and drinks & snacks are available. Kempton Steam Museum, next door to HKWR will also be open with its mighty triple expansion engine ‘in steam’ and featuring stationary engines, model engines & boats. Separate tickets only. 6/7 July

Princesses & Pirates Weekend!

Be a beautiful fairytale princess for the day or a ‘ahoy me hearties’ Jack the Pirate. Everyone will enjoy this event at the railway as they ride our train, transformed into a fantastic magical unicorn.You can bring your own picnic and just enjoy the day at family-affordable prices of £2.50 for children (under 3s free) and £4,50 for adults. Dinosaur Weekend

Come dinosaur hunting for a really ‘roarsome’ time. See the scary raptors on route and meet ‘Dino’ the railway’s dinosaur train for your photo op! There’s a ‘Hunt the Dinosaur’ Competition with prizes, face painting, Kempton Flyer play train and much more. Bring your dino picnic as we have a lovely picnic field and play area with tables. It’s free parking and drinks and snacks are available. £3 for children (under 3s free) and £5 for adults. For those interested in steam history, Kempon Steam Museum is having Open House London over the weekend
