Accessibility

We very much welcome all wheelchair users as we have made our railway as accessible as possible. There’s plenty of parking close to both the railway station platform and the Kempton Steam Museum, as well as disabled toilet facilities on site.

Our friendly volunteers at the railway are there to help anyone that needs it. The slope to the platform and the carriage ramp are both designed with wheelchair users in mind.

Here is Maud with her daughter in our Devon Coach when both had a great day out with us. Maud from Felthambrook was 100 years old when she visited the railway and is, we think, the oldest passenger we have carried. Maud needed a wheelchair which fitted perfectly into our specially modified compartment with the help of a kindly volunteer, and reported that the ride on Darent, our locomotive, was “quite fun”.
