You can book our regular Sunday steam train rides or just turn up on the day, but for some of our exciting railway events you’ll need to book in advance (ticket prices may vary).
You can always sign up for our On the Rails event alerts and not miss out on any of our very popular events.

Be a Volunteer Day! Free Event

We’re looking for volunteers! There’s lots of opportunities available, especially if you like to interact with the public, or be involved in admin or finance. You may want to train as an engine driver, guard? Come along and have a look round and a have a coffee and chat with one of our volunteers without obligation. No experience is necessary, but you must be over 18 years. Book your preferred time through our website. You’ll receive a warm welcome!
Railway 200. Celebration Family Fun Weekend!

Come celebrate 200 years of passenger train travel, as we proudly feature our operational representation of Stephenson’s 1829 iconic ‘Rocket’ locomotive as a tribute to the Railway 200 nationwide events happening all over the UK. Tickets are only £3 for children (under 3s free) & £5 for adults. There’s a lovely picnic field, a jazz band, and storytelling about our railway’s history and Railway 200 and our 7 ¼ inch sit on train is back that children just love to ride!
Kempton Steam Museum next door to the railway is open giving you the rare opportunity to see the world’s largest triple expansion engine as high as four double-decker buses ‘in steam.’ (Separate entry fee) Visit www.kemptonsteam.org
Railway 200 Steam Gala Weekend

Continuing with our Railway 200 celebrations, our Gala is a great weekend treat for enthusiasts, families and everyone who loves railways and steam! ‘Darent’ our 1903 locomotive will be running for unlimited rides, and to continue the Railway 200 theme, we have our representation of Stephenson’s 1829 iconic ‘Rocket’ locomotive on show. There are fantastic model railway layouts on display, our 1960s diesels to see and our 7 ¼ inch sit on train that children just love to ride! Book early for your HKWR ticket entry slot at £5 for children (under 3s free) and £9 adults.

Railway 200 Celebration Steam Weekend

Bring your picnic and allow the kids to let off steam! Our Stephenson’s ‘Rocket’ locomotive will still be on display and there’s an opportunity to learn more about the history of the railway and the museum and its role in providing clean drinking water to London in the early 20th Century. Only £2.50 children (under 3s free) and £4.50 adults.

‘Dino’ The Dinosaur Train

Come dinosaur hunting for a really ‘roarsome’ time. See the scary raptors on route and meet ‘Dino’ the railway’s dinosaur train for your photo op! It’s free parking and £3 for children (under 3s free) and £5 for adults There’s a ‘Hunt the Dinosaur’ Competition with prizes and the odd dinosaur roaming for something to eat so look out keep an eye on your picnic on our lovely picnic area with play train.
To see something big as a dinosaur, go across to Kempton Steam Museum to see the world’s largest steam engine high as four stacked double-decker buses working and ‘in steam.’ (Separate entry ticket). Visit www.kemptonsteam.org
